Call for contributions to the workshop
Track Description
The digitalization of healthcare and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) tools are requiring a profound reconfiguration of modern healthcare organizations (Apell and Eriksson, 2023). The adoption of new platforms, digital infrastructures, advanced information systems, and decision-support tools is not only changing the operational methods of service delivery, but is also redefining managerial roles, organizational routines, interprofessional and interorganizational relationships, decision-making processes and governance mechanisms.
This transformation in healthcare sector cannot be interpreted as a mere technological phenomenon. The introduction of AI-based systems, digital health platforms, electronic health records, predictive analytics tools, telemedicine, decision support systems, and automation technologies requires healthcare managers to develop new competencies, capable of integrating technological awareness, organizational judgment, ethical sensitivity, digital literacy, change management, and cyber security (Borgonovi, et al., 2022). In the healthcare sector, digital innovation has direct effects on the quality of services, the accessibility of care, the sustainability of healthcare systems, and, more generally, the well-being of citizens and the relevant socioeconomic context (Vesperi et al., 2025; Beaulieu and Bentahar, 2021). Consequently, the introduction of AI and digital technologies must also be analyzed for their organizational, managerial, ethical, and social implications.
Managing digital technological innovation in healthcare requires a thorough analysis of the clinical, economic, and organizational impacts of its introduction, thus leading to the development of new managerial skills in the sector (Dibidino et al., 2024; Tsiatiotis et al, 2026).
