Conference venue:
The conference will be held at the University Campus, located at Via Santa Maria in Gradi, 4, Viterbo.
How to reach Viterbo:
By car
A1 via Orte: From the A1 motorway (Milan-Naples), take the Orte exit and continue on the SS675 Orte-Viterbo. Exit at Viterbo Nord, then follow the SS2 Cassia towards the city centre near the University Campus.
SS2 Cassia: From Rome (or Siena), follow the SS 2 Cassia to Viterbo. Signs direct you to the historic centre near the University Campus.
Car park: Vehicle access to the University of Tuscia parking area is available from Via Sabotino and Via Valerio Tedeschi (We recommend entering from Via Sabotino, as it is easier to find and access).
By train
From Rome (Termini): Travellers departing from Roma Termini should first reach one of the FL3 line stations (Roma Ostiense, Roma Trastevere, or Roma San Pietro) by local train or metro. From there, regional FL3 trains run approximately once per hour to Viterbo. The journey takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Alternative route via Orte: From Roma Termini, travellers may also take a regional or intercity train to Orte, and then change to a local train to Viterbo. This option generally takes more than 2 hours overall and is less convenient than the FL3 line.
In addition, there are two direct trains connecting Rome Termini and Viterbo (Porta Fiorentina). In the afternoon, trains depart from Rome Termini at 5:27 PM and 7:16 PM, while in the morning, there are two direct trains from Viterbo to Rome Termini, departing at 6:08 AM and 6:50 AM.
From Rome (Tiburtina): Direct regional trains on the FL3 line connect Roma Tiburtina to Viterbo in approximately 2 hours.
Regardless of the route chosen, travelers are advised to stop at Viterbo Porta Romana, the most convenient station for the University campus. Viterbo train stations, Porta Romana and Porta Fiorentina, are connected by bus.
By airplane
Arriving at Ciampino Airport: From Rome Ciampino Airport, regular shuttle buses connect the airport with Ciampino railway station or with Rome Metro Line A (Anagnina), from which Roma Termini can be easily reached. Once at Roma Termini, please refer to the “By train” section above for connections to Viterbo. This route involves several transfers and is therefore less convenient than travelling from Fiumicino Airport.
Arriving at Fiumicino Airport: From Rome Fiumicino Airport, frequent train services connect the airport with Roma Trastevere (and Roma Ostiense). From Roma Trastevere, travellers can directly board the FL3 regional train to Viterbo (see the section above), stopping at Viterbo Porta Romana. This is the most convenient public transport option to reach Viterbo from the airport.
Car rental services are available at both Ciampino and Fiumicino airports (as well as at Termini and Tiburtina train stations) for those wishing to travel to Viterbo by car. The journey from Rome to Viterbo takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
