ItAIS Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium 2020

The itAIS Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium seeks to help doctoral students and researchers at the early stage of their career in Business, Management and Information Systems disciplines, in order to develop effective career plans based on their personal and professional goals. It has three primary objectives:

  • to provide students and early-stage researchers with networking opportunities,
  • to help students and early-stage researchers strategize about their research, dissertation, teaching, and career plans,
  • and to give hints about the job market.

The program includes panels (according to the number of attendees), workshops and a closing session. Each panel will involve at least a faculty member and two/three students. Students and early-stage researchers will be assigned to each panel according to the nature of the research strategy followed and the career stage in order to promote collaboration.

The ItAIS Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium 2020 will take place at the University of Chieti-Pescara, Department of Management and Business Administration, on October 15th (Thursday) in the afternoon and on October 16th (Friday) in the morning. Details about the programme will be available on this page.

The Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium is free of charge for all doctoral students and junior faculty (within 5 years of PhD completion) registered at the itAIS 2020 Conference. Doctoral students and junior faculty not registered at the Conference will be given the possibility to participate at the itAIS Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium (including panels and plenary workshops) by paying a registration fee of 50 euros. This fee is for the Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium only and does not include participation in the itAIS 2020 Conference sessions and coffee breaks.

Application Criteria

Doctoral students wishing to participate in the ItAIS 2020 Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium should be investigating Business, Management and/or Information Systems related topics for their dissertation.

Junior faculty wishing to participate in the ItAIS 2020 Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium should be at the early stage of their career (within 5 years of PhD completion).

The consortium chairs will review each application (DUE DATE: September 6th, 2020 – see application requirements below). The review process emphasizes applicants’ accomplishments and potential. Multiple students may apply from the same doctoral school.

Application Process

Submit the following materials via email to jfdconsortium@itais.org by September 6th, 2020.

Create a SINGLE pdf file that includes all of following three documents and submit the single pdf file via email. Include your name in the pdf file name.

  1. Completed application form (download attachment)
  2. Extended abstract of your dissertation [for doctoral students] or current research project (or draft paper – even if it has been already submitted to a conference/journal or be still in progress –) you would like to discuss (you can also provide a statement of research interests) [for junior faculty]. The text should not exceed two single-spaced pages.
  3. Curriculum vitae

Each student (or junior faculty) is required to read in advance the contribution(s) of the other student(s) (or junior faculty) participating in his or her panel in order to provide feedback, and will also serve as the main discussant of one of the other students’ (or junior faculty) work. Thus, each student (or junior faculty) will be responsible for providing extensive comments for the assigned extended abstract (or current research project or draft paper for junior faculty). Faculty members will be responsible for stimulating and managing the discussions. Details on the organization of each panel will be provided timely, prior to the workshop.

Each student and junior faculty should be also prepared to provide a short presentation (15-20 minutes) summarizing the key points of his or her research. The remainder of the time (20/30 minutes for each participant) will be dedicated to the discussion with the faculty members.

The number of participants in the Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium is limited to create an effective and intimate forum.

Applicants will receive confirmation of acceptance to attend the Junior Faculty and Doctoral Consortium by September 13th, 2020.
