Sandro

datri Prof. Alessandro D'Atri, 60, Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Director of the Center for Research on Information Systems (www.cersi.it) of the LUISS Guido Carli (www.luiss.it), prominent founder of the Information Systems discipline in Italy and renowned internationally, passed away on April 22nd, 2011, after a long fight with cancer.

Founder and Chairman from 2003 until 2006 (Vice President, since 2010) of the Italian Association for Information Systems (www.itais.org), the Italian chapter of AIS, beloved for his human and professional qualities, tireless guide for many students and colleagues, who have admired the steadiness and wisdom in assessing people and unravelling problems.

Sandro was a central lighthouse for the research and teaching community of IS. We will all miss him a lot.

The funeral ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 9:00 am at the Chapel "Pia Unione" of the Verano Cemetery in Rome.

Il Prof. Alessandro D'Atri, 60, Ordinario di Organizzazione Aziendale e Direttore del Centro di Ricerca sui Sistemi Informativi (www.cersi.it) della LUISS Guido Carli (www.luiss.it), tra i fondatori della disciplina dei Sistemi Informativi in Italia e all'estero, è mancato il 22 aprile 2011, dopo una lunga battaglia con il cancro.

Fondatore e Presidente, dal 2003 e fino al 2006 (attualmente in carica come Vice Presidente), del IT Ais, Associazione Italiana dei Sistemi Informativi (www.itais.org), chapter italiano della AIS mondiale, amato e stimato per le sue doti umane e professionali, guida instancabile di numerosi studenti e colleghi, che ne hanno ammirato l'equilibrio, la comprensione pacata e mite delle esigenze degli altri, la serenità nel valutare e risolvere i problemi.

Sandro era un punto di riferimento essenziale per la nostra comunità scientifica. Il suo contributo ci mancherà molto.

Le esequie si terranno martedì 26 aprile, alle ore 9.00, presso la Cappella "Pia Unione" del Cimitero del Verano di Roma.

Ciao Alessandro
ho appreso della scomparsa di D'Atri solo oggi. Anche se dopo il dottorato non ci siamo più visti ed io ho preso una via professionale diversa, lo ricordo con simpatia ed affetto e la sua scomparsa mi ha assai addolorato.

I was very depressed that Prof. D’Atri has passed away. He was a great man in all dimensions as person, as expert, as partner. He has always supported our center in Bulgaria and me personally. I remember that CeRSI was our first international partner in VIRTUOSE project on 2003 – 8 years ago. He, together with Prof. Casalino, accepted our invitation to join our first big EU project and from it started the development of European Center for Quality and mine as manager. I can say that he was a noble soil for our pure friendship and successful partnership in so many projects and initiatives. I will miss Alessandro very very much. I would like definitely to go to the grave of Alessandro on Sunday evening May 29 or Monday afternoon May 30 in any case. I would like to give my great respect to him and say good bye for the last time with him. Also my colleagues from Gabrovo Technical University send their deep condolences for the dead of Prof. D’Atri.

Sono profondamente addolorato per la scomparsa di Sandro. L’ho sempre apprezzato per le sue ben note qualità umane e scientifiche ma, avendolo conosciuto più "da vicino" recentemente, ed avendomi concesso la Sua amicizia, ho potuto percepire la Sua sensibilità, attenzione e cordialità. What a great loss for the IS community! It has been a privilege to have met and collaborated with Sandro, such a motivating force and a dedicated colleague! Always smiling, always encouraging... Il cordoglio per la perdita del suo valore scientifico ed accademico è sicuramente testimoniato da amici ben più qualificati di me, voglio invece ricordare il suo valore umano e la passione che in questi anni di attività per AICA ha saputo trasmetterci. La partecipazione ed il coinvolgimento che, con incredibile coraggio, ci ha manifestato fino agli ultimi, difficili giorni. Sarà difficile se non impossibile colmare il vuoto che ci lascia. I am truly sorry to learn of Sandro's passing and I am finding it hard to believe he is gone so suddenly now. I see him before me so clearly just ten months ago.. I share your sadness and in my thoughts I am with you, with his family, his other friends and colleagues. I am grateful to have got the chance to have met Sandro and to have had the chance to spend some great moments together with him, carry out some joint activities and share the same ideas and thoughts in our talks. I have first met Sandro in Italy in occasion of MCIS conference in Venice in 2007. It was clear to me from the first time I met him that he was a very special person both on a personal and professional plan. For me it has been like a light that has opened the way to collaboration with many other Italian colleagues.
